Wood-Art: How a Piece is Made
Scroll assembles the stack →Design
The artwork is separated into nested depth contours — one closed vector path per sheet of material.
Cut
A CO2 laser cuts each contour from birch ply or slate. Precision here is what lets the layers seat flush.
Finish
Every sheet is hand-painted or stained separately, so each depth reads as its own distinct tone.
Stack
Sheets are glued up in order. The gaps between them cast the shadows that give the piece real relief.

Message the shop →You matter more to us than the order does.
Every piece is cut, finished and packed by the same hands, and we'd rather hear from you than have something sit on a wall you're not happy with. If what shows up isn't what you were hoping for — damaged in transit, the wrong finish, or just not landing the way you pictured it — tell us. We'll work with you until it's right.
No scripts and no ticket queue. Whoever made your piece is the one reading the message.

Made to order & custom work
Commissions are open →Nothing here is pulled off a shelf — every listing is built once you order it. That same bench is open for work that isn't in the catalog at all: your design, your sizes, your palette. Wood, slate, metal, leather — if it can be cut or engraved, it's worth asking about.
Send the idea
A sketch, a reference photo, or a sentence describing it. Rough is fine — that's what the first pass is for.
Quote & proof
We come back with what's possible, what it costs and how long it takes. Nothing gets cut until you say go.
Built for you
Cut, finished and stacked by hand, one piece at a time. Names, dates and one-off gifts included.
About the forge
Flat sheets go in. Something with depth comes out.
Every piece starts as a single drawing and ends as something you can run your hand across. Each layer is cut on its own, sanded, stained or hand-painted on its own, then stacked so light falls into the gaps between them. Those shadows aren't printed on — they're real, and they shift as the light moves through the room.
Some of what we make is unmistakably fantasy: a dragon, a d20, a mimic to guard your dice. Some of it is quieter — a stag among the trees, an owl, a tree turning through all four seasons. It's all built the same way, and it all ends up somewhere you'll walk past it every day.
The laser is the first step, not the last. Everything after it — the finishing, the painting, the glue-up — happens by hand in our workshop here in the States. Each order is made once you place it, so nothing sits in a warehouse and no two pieces come out quite the same. Yours is built for you.
Wall art, coasters, earrings, dice trays, gifts for someone who's hard to buy for. If you're not sure which piece is the right one, message the shop before you order — that's what it's there for.
